Muse Group is embarking on a global expansion and seeks a dynamic Corporate Counsel. This pivotal role involves operational legal guidance across our diverse Muse Group + Hal Leonard business sectors.
The ideal candidate will navigate legal complexities in various jurisdictions, ensuring compliance and managing legal risks aligned with our commercial risk tolerance.
Reporting directly to COO, this role demands close collaboration with senior leaders and stakeholders throughout the organization to support our growth and innovation initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
- Offer comprehensive legal counsel on a broad spectrum of matters, including but not limited to contracts, intellectual property, data privacy, corporate governance, employment law, litigation, and regulatory adherence.
- Formulate and enforce legal frameworks and procedures to guarantee compliance with all applicable regulations in regions including, but not limited to, Europe, the US, and Australia.
- Identify and mitigate legal risks, advising on the legal aspects of strategic decisions.
- Draft, scrutinize, and negotiate a variety of legal agreements, engaging with customers, vendors, partners, and regulatory bodies.
- Act as the company's legal representative in disputes and proceedings, while managing external legal relationships to optimize spending.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legal developments, preparing the company to adapt to changing legal landscapes.
- Willingness being a hands-on manager
Required experience and skills:
- Proven legal expertise on a global scale, with a preference for candidates versed in the technology sector and music intellectual property.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and negotiation prowess, coupled with robust business insight and a commitment to ethical practices.
- Essential experience dealing with Music publishers and copyright agencies.
- Experience developing in-house legal solutions, partnering with senior leadership and general employees.
- A keen sense of diligence, recognizing the significant financial risks of non-compliance in this dynamic field.
